Via Lauretana – from Siena to Cortona
Tuscany is full of walking routes to explore, one of examples is the ancient Via Lauretana, which connects Siena to Cortona.
The suggestive route winds through over 100 km of unspoiled nature, between the Crete Senesi and the Valdichiana, symbolically linking the two patron saints of Italy, Santa Caterina and San Francesco.
The Via Lauretana is not just a path: it is one of the oldest and loveliest spiritual journeys in Italy. A journey through countryside rich in art, archaeology and expressions of devotion, ideal for those who love walks with a cultural aspect. The route allows pilgrims to immerse themselves in beautiful scenery of gentle hills and broad plains and spend time in villages and towns full of art and history.
The route is divided into 5 stages, each of which is about 20-25 kilometres long:
- from Siena to Vescona
- from Vescona to Serre Rapolano
- from Serre Rapolano to Sinalunga
- from Sinalunga to Valiano
- from Valiano to Cortona
