Day 3 In the footsteps of the” maestro” Giacomo Puccini: Lucca – Lago Massacciucoli -Versilia

In the morning, take your bus to Lucca for a short city tour and visit the birthplace of Puccini. As you leave the center of the city, you pass an old Carthusian monastery to reach Nozzano, an old fortified village that has retained its original appearance. Along a road surrounded by greenery, after a short but sometimes challenging climb, opens up a charming view of Lake Massaciuccoli, Migliarino Park, the coast and the sea on the horizon. From here to Viareggio and the beaches of Versilia we continue in the countryside around the lake and the marshes of Massaciuccoli. Here the master has spent his time hunting birds and ducks. Make a detour to Torre del Lago, where you can visit the master’s villa directly on the lake and where in the summer his operas are performed on the open-air stage that juts out into the lake. Your journey ends in Viareggio on the long beach promenade, where the master met his friends in the bars and he composed in his summer villa. After a refreshing dip in the sea, your bus will bring you back to Montecatini.

Day 4 The Wine Route of Bolgheri Cypress Avenue – Bolgheri Round by Rosignano Marittimo

The third tour of the holiday is an “escape” to the typical Tuscan countryside. This is the day dedicated to wine lovers and the streets surrounded by cypresses, vineyards, farmhouses and rolling hills in the background – just like postcards! You can reach the area by bus, not far from the sea. It consists of low hills with short climbs. The route runs along the “Wine Route of the Etruscan Coast”. Crossing Bibbona, Bolgheri and Castagneto Carducci, we have the opportunity to visit famous wineries that produce some of the best wines, such as Sassicaia and Ornellaia, which are less known to the public but more original. Stop by and breathe in a typical Tuscan wine tasting before taking the bus back to your hotel for well deserved relaxation.
