Sample program:
Day 1:
Arrival in Montecatini Terme, dinner and overnight at a nice and centrally placed 3 star hotel.
Day 2:
A half-day guided tour to Pisa. This town is best known for its leaning tower, but there is so much more to see! Piazza dei Miracoli, the area around the cathedral and the tower, is beautiful, and a visit can easily occupy several hours. Pisa was one of the four great maritime republics in the Middle Ages, and it retains a good selection of monuments from that era. Lunch in Pisa at a nice Restaurant near the city center.
In the afternoon we will spend a very pleasant break in Lucca, the birth place of the famous composer Giacomo Puccini.
When in Lucca, be sure to look up! You will see the towers that still today stretch all the way up over the city’s rooftops: the characteristic Torre delle Ore and the great Torre Guinigi, crowned with Holm Oak leaves. A short distance away you will find Piazza dell’Anfiteatro, with its unmistakable elliptical shape, built in the original Roman structure. After this break, choir’s concert will take place, it will be organised at Basilica di San Martino.
Day 3:
Half day tour to Pistoia – Pistoia has been recently elected as 2017 Italian Capital of Culture. Halfway between Florence and Lucca, it is not as famous as other cities, but definitely worth visiting, as it treasures fascinating architectural and natural spots. What to visit? Piazza Duomo, Piazzetta della Sala and Ospedale del Ceppo: here, once, the ancient hospital used to be located, whereas now there is a museum dedicated to medicine and to ancient ways of healing.
In the afternoon we get back to Montecatini. Time to visit Montecatini Alto and the main churches and places in Montecatini.
After your tour, a nice anniversary brunch with typical Tuscan wines and products will be served at the Hotel. Before the concert, a rehearsal at Basilica di Santa Maria Assunta will be organised.
Day 4:
Today our Tuscan adventure comes to an end.
